It's a nice small intimate restaurant with a very tentative staff the sushi chefs are there you can see them by the sushi bar it was an excellent experience the food was great very decent price

Since they opened, they have been consistently excellent. I truly hope they're around for many years to come. I've eaten here at least 20–30 times, and the sushi is always fresh. The rolls are well made, with just the right balance of ingredients, not overloaded with rice like you find at some other sushi restaurants. I've tried the spicy tuna roll, salmon roll, avocado roll, and the ramen, and they have yet to disappoint. I'm wishing them continued success because they've earned it. I gave them three stars for the atmosphere only because of the bright, white lighting. It reminds me of the lights in a dentist's office. While the restaurant is clean and inviting, I personally prefer warmer lighting to create a cozier dining experience. One more thing really stood out to me. One evening I called to place an order, but no one answered. I called a second time and assumed they must be closed. About two minutes later, they called me back! 😀 Thanks to that, I got to enjoy sushi that night. Thank you, and keep up the great work!

Hidden Gem in the Heights! It's a great spot to grab lunch or dinner with your family. I recommend bringing an appetite, since they're portions are a little larger. They have full scale sushi, sashimi, hot dishes, and ramen.

This is by far the BEST sushi you can get in the Jersey City/Hoboken area. I walk up the steps from Hoboken at least once a week to enjoy fresh sushi in a beautiful BYOB dining room. The lunch special is the best price in the area and the sushi is unbelievably fresh and melts in your mouth. They also make the best tempura ice cream I have ever tasted, it beats the top spots in NYC. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Excellent experience at Makoto! I visited on a Sunday in the early afternoon and it was quiet. The food was fresh and delicious and they have many options. I have seen a more extensive menu but those are very confusing and here it was simpler and easier to choose from. They have a nice mix of music playing in the background and it’s nice to hear it from the establishment own culture. Soups are yummy, salads basic but also yummy. They have some vegan options as well. Just a heads up, on Sunday they do not serve a lunch menu which was kind of disappointing. Overall an excellent new restaurant in the neighborhood.
